Random Story. Wild Week.

Pugs.

I’ve never really been a fan.

They sound like they’re snoring—even when they’re wide awake.

Maybe my disdain stems from an old friend who let her pugs poop on the basement carpet. Every visit, I had to dodge little piles like landmines.

Not a fan.

But during a sales call this week, my trainee and I stopped into a tailor shop. They had a shop dog.

A pug.

Of course it was a pug.

I watched this old dog, perched on a high service counter, wearing a sporty little puffer vest, happily licking a customer right in the mouth.

And that wasn't even the worst part.

The customer ENJOYED it.

The dog was really getting in there, too.

Wow.

That's the kind of week it's been.

So it only makes sense that Megan came home with this story about Jude at therapy.

Picture this.

It's circle time. All the kids are sitting on the carpet in the middle of the room. The teacher encourages everyone to make an animal noise.

The kids happily oblige.

In the middle of this barnyard chaos, Jude reaches for her tablet and starts using it to join the fun.

Or at least that's what the teacher thought.

The volume on Jude's AAC device was turned way down. So the teacher, wanting to encourage her participation, cranked it up to hear which animal noise Jude had chosen.

Nipple.

Nipple.

Breast.

Breast.

Breast.

Breast.

Apparently, Jude had discovered the "Private Parts" group on her AAC device and decided circle time was the perfect opportunity to showcase her 13-year-old sense of humor.

I'm not sure if she flashed her teacher that distinct, ornery grin of hers, but I really hope she did.

Either way, it's hilarious.

The teacher eventually had to take the tablet away before the verbal kids picked up "NIPPLE" as their newest vocal stim.

What a weird week.

But here's what I love about it.

God knows what I need. And He knows what I enjoy.

He knows I needed Jude in my life to refine me, stretch me, and make me a better man.

But He also knows I love a funny, completely random story.

Being Jude's dad gives me plenty of both.

And for that, I'm as grateful as an old lady getting pug kisses right on the mouth.
