Real Love.
Jude doesn’t clean her room, wash the dishes, or fold laundry.
She doesn’t verbalize her love or appreciation.
She doesn’t even dress herself.
But our love for her isn’t based on what she can do for us. It’s not based on her performance.
It’s not dimmed by the assistance she requires.
From the moment I found out Megan was pregnant to the moment I leave this world I will love Jude.
Completely.
Fiercely.
Sincerely.
Freely.
And though my love for Jude is a shameful comparison, it is the smallest reminder of how Christ loves us.
His love - that endures forever - is not based on my performance. It’s not dimmed by how much assistance I still require.
When I’m at my lowest.
When I look back and see a mountain of failures and sin.
When I don’t verbalize my love or appreciation.
When I have nothing to give.
He loves me.
Completely.
Fiercely.
Sincerely.
Freely.
Thank you Jesus for paying it all. For the finished work of Christ. Correct my pride when I try and earn your love and acceptance through anything outside of the cross. Let me - and those reading this - experience the fullness of freedom that comes only by the Gospel.
Happy Easter. He is risen!
